Have you ever spotted this sculpture on the Cleveland Way between Saltburn and Skinningrove? Each steel piece is inspired by local folklore and traditions. Created by Richard Farrington, the Circle has been fondly nick-named the 'Charm Bracelet' by locals.
There's a Cleveland Bay horse, the local breed, a Mermaid/Man, part of the coastal folklore, a Mermaids purse and starfish and belemnite representing the Jurassic fossils and marine life, a cat (Cat Nab is a nearby place-name and there are stories of cats being hunted on the cliff), a pigeon to celebrate pigeon-fancying, a kind of torch (unsure why?!), and Thor's Hammer referring to local Viking heritage.
