Want to feel happier, better? Go to Keld. It’s well-known for its wonderful waterfalls, especially Kisdon Force. Countless walkers pass through this part of Swaledale, thanks to Keld's position on so many walking routes. There's another reason why Keld feels so uplifting though: its community spirit and residents' willingness to share their beautiful home and do all they can to make visitors feel welcome.
Imagine living in one of the most beautiful spots in the world, where you can constantly gaze out at incredibly awe-inspiring views and lush greenery. Most people would just sit and enjoy the beauty.
But there was a small patch of wasted ground by the chapel, so Keld's tiny community set about improving it to create a well-being garden and community orchard. The result is restful, calming and has gorgeous views.
It's not the only place in Keld where visitors can feel welcome and learn more about the area. The Keld Resource Centre and small museum in the old school are full of detail and interest too.
