I thought it was a quite recent thing to tell everyone to drink plenty of water so was interested to spot this in the tiny hamlet of Lofthouse. I'm guessing part of the enthusiasm for fresh water came from the building of nearby Gouthwaite and then Scar House Reservoirs. This is a neat little construction, part war memorial, part health advice, and with a lovely little wooden door over a cubby-hole, hiding a water pipe.
